Indesit Fridges and Freezers

The history of Indesit goes back to 1930, when Aristide Merloni formed Industrie Merloni. Initially, this company sold scales, and then began to produce hot water heaters and gas cylinders.

In 1975, Industrie Merloni changed the name of its household appliances division to Merloni Elettrodomestici. Over time the company developed until it had corned more than 15% of the European market, and 3 billion euros in annual sales figures.

Merloni Elettrodomestici changed its name to Indesit Company in 2005, and is now home to four leading brand names, of which Indesit is the best known. It is one of the top three retailers of cooling appliances in Europe, selling over 14 million units.

Indesit has a feeling of deep responsibility for the environment, and is responsible for many innovations in this area. As its environmental policy is so important to it, Indesit prides itself on being able to recycle most parts of its fridges.

As well as this concern for the environment, Indesit also values social responsibility, originality and convenience. While trying to improve its refrigeration appliances, Indesit never forgets the basic functions and requirements of fridges and freezers, and strives to guarantee the performance and reliability that you would expect from a top quality brand.

Indesit cooling products account for a third of the company’s production across Europe, and Indesit fridges are found in 36 countries and are available to 350 million people.
