Fridge Freezer Brands – Whirlpool

Whirlpool, as the company is now known, began life in 1911 in St. Joseph, Michigan, when a company then known as the Upton Machine Corporation began producing electric motor-driven wringer washers.

The Upton Machine Corporation merged with the Nineteen Hundred Washer Co. in 1929, which went on to change its name to Whirlpool in 1950.

Whirlpool then continued to expand by taking over various other home appliance companies around the world. In 1989, Whirlpool developed a joint venture with Philips in Europe, and Whirlpool went on to become sole owner of this venture in 1991.

Whirlpool is now a household name. Whirlpool’s key values of respect, integrity, diversity and teamwork have been devised with a view towards achieving its company mission: for every home, everywhere, to contain a Whirlpool household appliance.

One of the most important characteristics of the Whirlpool brand is the passion for providing unmatched customer service. This is true throughout the Whirlpool organization worldwide.

Whirlpool has been active in Europe for since 1989. In that time, it has gone from an unknown name to the leading white goods brand across Europe. Whirlpool also acquired Maytag Corporation in 2006, cementing its position as the world leader in the home appliance field, with operations in over 60 centres worldwide, annual sales of over $19 billion and more than 80,000 employees.
